Edit nodes and segments
User manualEdit on the page
Select a curve and choose Nodes or Shapes > Edit vertices. If it is a parametric preset, first use Convert to curves when you need free segment editing. Drag anchor points to change the path and blue tangent handles to change Bezier bends. Orange handles on an unconverted preset change its parameters.
Use the segment editor
- Select exactly one compound curve. Choose Shapes > Edit curve segments, or the Segments action in the Geometry properties.
- Choose the Subpath, then select a segment in the list. Edit its numerical properties in the inspector. Fields depend on the segment type and include positions, control points or arc geometry.
- Choose a Segment type when you need a different representation. A change is accepted only if it defines supported, connected geometry.
- Set End node mode to Corner, Smooth or Symmetric. Corner allows independent tangents; Smooth keeps a continuous tangent direction; Symmetric also balances the tangent handles.
- Use Split in two to divide the selected segment, or Reverse to reverse the curve direction. Close the dialog when finished.
Note: The Curve segments dialog applies changes immediately. Close does not discard them. Use its Undo button or the application's Undo to reverse a change. Image effects and Layers use a separate Apply/Cancel workflow.
Keep editing predictable
Work on one curve at a time for numerical segment edits. If an object still exposes preset parameters, keep those parameters for regular adjustments or convert it deliberately for free editing. Save a copy before major conversions if you want to preserve both the original preset and a custom outline.
Closed path controls whether endpoints are joined for appropriate shapes. Filling an open outline does not automatically make it closed. Inspect the closing edge before exporting a filled design.
